Re: odd squeaking/squealing noise

Check the tension on your belts.  They will usually squeak worse when
they are wet, especially when it rains or driven through a puddle. 
Since they are in the front of the car and you've ruled out any tire rub,
this seems like the next logical place to look from your description of
the problem you gave.
