It's copper............     Not really that good of a conductor( of heat or 
electricity)/And generally run cooler, than other electrode materials. 
That's why Beru raves about there SILVERstones ( I personally hate them).
Bosch Platinums are the best all around plug.  Good conductor, self cleaning, 
and durable. Bosch has been making spark plugs for over a hundred years, they 
know their shit!
