Re: scirocco-L-digest V1 #1549

Re: Blowing fuse #8.

Bro's 89 16V gti ate its headlight switch and blew lotsa fuses before we
traced it to the wires in accordian cover that go hatchback. Flexing
can cause breaks. I used to have this problema lot on 78. Best to
solder in replacement. I used to use some cool teflon insulated wire as
it has thinner inuslation. PIA. Consult bentley too see what else is on
that circuit.

Re: EC 16V/50 mm story. I'd guess the mix combo with the more
aggressive exhaust cam mimics what VW did with our USA stock cam. I
think there is some Brit tuning site that explains why that works. I
kinda want to know if the euro intake cam has the same profile as the
stock USA exhaust cam. Saw it once, but not confirmed. Of course, you
have to machine a new Woodruff key slot to get timing right, among other
things.

A BTDT RE cutting coils. You won't change ride height or rate much if
you cut off a "dead" coil. I'd recommend understanding what happens
before cutting, ie play with formula.

Just my $0.02.
