I don't know how familiar you are with the 16V's, but a $1500 car has
roughly $3k in mechanical probs (trans, struts, axles, t belt).  Let alone
be in decent enough condition to drive 500 miles and pass an inspection.  Of
course they can be found in mint condition for $500, but that is usually by
listers with cash, the mechanical ability, the space and the time to fix all
of the problems.  Or these deals pop up when you are extremely broke and
need to pay rent with money you don't have.

I'm not trying to imply that you aren't any of those things, just thought I
would inject some external variables which might affect your master plan.
