Braker bleeder? How important?

I am about to change another 8v master cylinder.  The first time I did it I
never had any problems with bolting it up to the booster and bleeding it,
just as the Bentley manual indicates.  However, I understand some people use
brake bleeders and I wanted to ask the real benefit and cost?
