exhaust manifold/dowpipe clamps!

Exhaust in question pertains to a stock exhaust found on the  JH 8V motor.
How do I get those clamps on without the aid of the 'special' tool.  The
clamps I'm referring to are the ones which mount the downpipe onto the
exhaust manifold.  That is the ugly single outlet manifold.....

Any suggestions.....
