Actually I am for Ceramic Coatings from Jet Hot.  They are more durable but
need to be done professionally.  I have had my cast iron exhaust manifold
done ($90.00) and a down pipe (~$30.00) that I perchased from TT for my 16V
Scirocco.  Both are coated inside and out which protects the metal from the
heat and helps to increase the flow as well.

It seems to be down right now but keep trying.

They also offer Heat disapation coatings for oil pans and coatings that
protect form heat for intake manifolds.
