RE: 1.8T conversion

I've said it before and I'll say it again for all you newbies to the world
of MkI engine swaps.

The 1.8t is the worst HP/$ that you can do. It is also the most expensive
motor to buy right now and you have to get ALL the parts.

Then you have to buy a bigger turbo, garret chip, custom exhaust manifold,
better flowing intercooler, custom tubing, larger radiator, oil cooler, just
to make it worth while to get to 250 reliable HP.

So, now with that much HP in the MkI you have to upgrade the brakes, stiffen
the chassis, buy a quaiff, and a shitpile of spare cv joints.

You have to either have the utmost trust in your own abilities or that of
your mechanic to wire up the 1.8t engine management, and be prepared to
spend countless hours troubleshooting the system.

Anyone serious about this swap should seriously consider why they want to do
it. If it's just to be "cool" and have the latest greatest engine, and pay
some shop to put it in then you totally suck and don't deserve to drive a
MkI.

If it's because your a fanatic and want to learn about engine swaps and how
to make really fast VW's, then lets turn this thread into something everyone
can benefit from and dig into how to make a 1.8t MkI go.
