I've never heard anything like that. I doubt it applies to Scirocco's 
though, as they were well into production of the JH motor by that time.

It might be true for the Golf/Jetta cars, as they just switched over to the 
new stuff then, and lack of experience led to inconsistencies. But I'm just 
pulling that out of my Ass and have nothing to back it up.

I'd also like to know what was meant by "worst"  Durability, Performance, 
Consistency, etc.

While the GX motor (85bhp) was no powerhouse, both it and the RD blocks are 
considered bulletproof motors.

But that's just what I've heard.
