[Fwd: Climate Control Selector.........DAMN]

THE way to fix this thing is to take apart the vacuum distributor, aka control
valve, and lube it with a good grease.

You don't need to modify any other part of the vent control mechanism at all.

Once you get to the vac distrib., remove the 'E' circlip. Disable the vac
distrib. Clean the rubber washer and plastic distributor block with alcohol.
I re-greased mine (the rubber washer & plastic block surfaces) with Neo
Watercraft grease. Potterman sells this. It's really good because it really
sticks to stuff but slides effortlessly when in contact with itself. Has
teflon in it, I believe.

It's been 3 months now and the mechanism works better than it ever did, even
when the car was brand spanking new. I even get the far left setting, i.e.
Max A/C to properly close the outdoor ventilation flap for max A/C air
recirculation. In fact, the vent control lever now slides so easily, that I
often 'overshoot' my intended setting.

Try this!
