tool info wanted

  okay, so i go to take out the trans in my '85 the other day. when i
get down there i see a number of 12 point bolts. thinking back to
messages i read on the list, i check with local auto parts stores
(advance, autozone, pepboys) to no avail. i even check with sears
hardware and come up empty. can anyone help me find these 12-point star
sockets or will the regular hex work? thanx.
