According to Bently you do not remove the vacuum line to the distributor.
Is this correct?
Some have said to remove to set timing.

Also is it possible for the timing marks on the flywheel to be in the wrong
place? I had my transmission changed, could they have bolted the new trans
on in the wrong position.

TDC seems to be on a blank spot on the flywheel.

My car starts then dies. This tends to go away if the motor is warm.
I have low idle when cold and high when hot. Idle is rough

Is it possible that the timing is set up 180 o from the correct position
could the #1 cycl be on the exhaust upstroke instead of the power stroke?

I have changed the timing belt also.
I think I need to verify the timing setup before I go looking for another
problem.

What are the results of adjusting the advance/retard setting point,I read it
somewhere?

?? ramble... ramble ...

sorry for all the questions, any answers , Thanks!
