Re: 16v Cam Question

Yes!! I had my intake cam ground by a company called Delta Camshaft in
Tacoma WA. Look them up I am sure you will find them. Anyway, to regrind a
16v intake cam (exhaust cams are the same Europe/US) to Euro specs, if cost
me $55!! Now I work for a performance VW shop so I may get some kind of a
discount, but not much. I asked if they go any further than the Euro spec
grind, they said yes, but you have to go with solid lifters because the
hydraulic lifters won't suck up enough slack for the cam to work correctly.
On the euro grind, there is such a small difference than stock that the
hydraulic lifters (if you know how these work you'll understand) will pump
up enough to make up for the amound ground off of the stock cam. I have one
of their euro grind cams in my 2.0L 16v now and it seems to kick in nicely
around 3-4k! I have also referred customers there and used them in rebuilt
heads with good results.

This probably won't do anything for me, but if you call them tell them that
Dave from "Small Car" referred you through the internet. Just curious to
see what they think of advertising on the net. Last time I went in there
they said that someone was ordering something from them from NY state, and I
believe it was someone that I had referred.

Last thing!! I have two of these cams with fresh euro grinds. If anyone is
interested, I would like $120 plus shipping (No Exchange!!). If anyone
wants one, LMK. I plan on advertising a bunch of stuff on the net soon so
if they are still around then, they won't be soon after. LMK!!

Dave
