RE: shift linkages and tranny seals



I have bought the VW guide for idiots, chiltons and the vw book. Each one
describes procedures slightly differently and at different skill levels.

  see, here i have to disagree. i don't have a bentley, i only have a
haynes manual. sure, you might say that it doesn't cover this or doesn't
cover that, but the bentley is the same way. the manual comes in handy
for reference, but when one gets down to the dirty, the manual could as
well be chucked. hell, when we changed my clutch in the '85 i only used
the manual to find out to line the v in the flywheel up. other than
that, the manual sat by the wayside until i needed torquing specs. the
bentley may be the bible of vw owners, but i read that and the regular
bible about the same.
