Re: Self adjusting clutch cable?




Per the Bentley, the self adjusting cable is to be retained in the storage
position (spring fully compressed) with the provided plastic tie prior to
its removal from the car.  If the tie has been removed from the cable, use
a piece of wire.  Otherwise the adjusting mechanism will extend to its
maximum adjustment, rendering the cable useless.

I haven't worked on dozens of these cables, but I have had more than a few
off, and never had problems with them while following this procedure.
