non-roc (cabriolet)




i'm still working on getting this 2.0l i swapped into my friend's 88
cabriolet.....everything was working when before i removed the old
motor.....

it will turn over fine, but not catch......i've adjusted the timing marks
several (many many many) times, but no progress.....
one problem that i am still having is that when i line up the dot on the
cam pulley, the belt is off by about 1/2 a tooth.....we've readjusted the
teeth on the crank/intermediate shaft and it still will not line up any
better......i'm using the stock 2.0l timing belt......it's driving me crazy
at this point.....

but one thing we just noticed was that the fuel pump doesnt seem to be
priming (turn the key, pump primes, then shuts off)....all of my other vws
do this (87 scirocco, 81 rabbit).....is  the cabriolet supposed to do this
as well (i know it's an A1, but there are a bunch of tiny changes i've
noticed compared to the older A1 cars that i have/worked on

i just want this damn car to run and get it out of my garage......

any help would be greatly appreciated
