So do a few other VW cams.  Unfortunately you can't tell the G grind by
the stamped G (which may stand for Germany, or Gasser, or GimmeABreak?).
The grind comes from the G that's at the end of the VW
part number.  The non k-lambda CIS 1.6 came with an 'N' cam (which also
has a G stamped on it AFAIK.) You can identify these cams by their
profile, as mentioned by an earlier post.  Greg Raven's Water Cooled
Performance handbook has a table on watercooled cams, perhaps someone with
a copy handy could post the relevant measurements?
