A few questions

Hi all,

I've been tracking my coolant loss, and we're now pretty sure that it's
somewhere in the heater core or the hoses leading to it.  For now, I'll
just keep it closed, but are there any known problems in that area?  I
also need to replace the themostat; would that have anything to do with
it?

Several kids (probably in the 8-12 range) walked by as I was adding
coolant to my radiator just now, and one of them said something like
"Cool a VW!" :)

Lastly, a question for those in Southern California.  I'm thinking about
going to Fullerton next week.  I would have to be there at 6:30pm, so I
might end up driving across LA during rush hour (ugh).  Is there a less
traveled route than I-5 to highway 91 (which seems the most direct)?  Am
I overreacting to the (perceived) traffic flow (lack thereof)?
