[non roc] 85 Golf Questions

Hey All,

Soon in the spring or early summer, I will be purchasing a great 85 golf 
from a friend of mine for the measly sum of $1000.  It is modded already, 
and has cool stuff done to it, I need some advice on what else I could do to 
it for low-buck.

Here is what is done:

(btw, its an 85 cashmire white golf with low compression GX engine)

Lowered w/ neuspeed springs and boge progas
Oo oO 4 round lights
teardrops (will swap w/ my EVOs when my car goes in the garage for work)
Fuba & antenna hole filled
Eurosport 2.25 alluminumized catback & K&N

What I want to do to it: (where can I get best prices, and what else can I 
do?)
bigger downpipe or header
high compression head gasget

OR

A3 2.0 engine swap w/ complete electronics and everything (w/o tranny)
