Stalling and Juddering.

I just tried to go home for lunch and got two miles down the road and my
scirocco stalled. I stopped and tried restarting, if I pumped the pedal hard a
couple of times then cranked it, it started I got about a mile further and it
did it again. I decided to head back to work. When I got back to work I popped
the hood and couldn't see any thing major wrong. I'm no mechanic but I think it
must be something up with the vacuum tubes or possibly air getting into the fuel
lines. When I ran it at idle it ran fine even if I revved it do 5500rpm, but I
did notice in the fuel filter there were an awful lot of bubbles going through
with the fuel.
Any Ideas?
I can't live without my scirocco. I might have to go back to driving my
Nova.........................AAAAARRRGGGGGHHHH!!
