Hmm, but how - there never was a A1 chassis all-wheel drive unit out there.
It would take serious work to get it done, and probably a Quattro of some
type to do it.  The Corrado or A2-A3-A4 based cars are much easier to do.

Not to say it can't be done, just that it is expensive and probably not
worth the effort.

BTW, VW is finally doing an AWD Passat again, saw it at the Detroit
auto-show Saturday.
