Re: Valve Cover Gaskets

I'm using the one-piece gasket on both my JH 1.8 Scirocco and a 1.6L NA
Diesel. In both cases the installation solved oil seepage problems that
existed with new and properly torqued cork gaskets (mainly with light
weight oils.) I sourced parts from VW for 94> 1.8L gas motor - probably
the same studs (shoulderless) and gasket used by the Corrado G60.

An added bonus of the shoulderless studs is that you no longer have to
worry about siezed nuts causing the stud to back out. If the stud backs
out it doesn't bang up against the valve cover anymore, causing the cover
to bind, but rather passes right through it.
