Re: [86 8V] black paint for touch ups?

As John said, you can go to the stearlership and get te genuine 'VW' paint. This is a RIP OFF! I know b/c I got it for my grey 84 scirocco and it cost me my left nut. I wised up and went to NAPA Auto Parts when I was looking for touch up paint for my Alpine White 16v. Since Alpine White is a popular color, a generic brand of spray paint was available in that color. Great match. While NAPA didn't have the paint at the store, they had it sent from the warehouse. Cost me about $5 for a small can.

While I can't remember the brand of the paint, its in the section w/ all the touch up stuff. I know Trak Auto (read, Crap Auto) carries the same brand of paint, they didn't have Alpine White and were not willing to order it. Screw them!). You might have better luck w/ the black paint. Just make sure to know EXACTLY which paint you have. Get the paint code, and if in doubt, call a VW dealership to get the right name associated w/ the paint code.

HTH,

Victor (w/ only right nut)
Alpine White 16v

You can get touch up paint from the dealer, usually in small spray can or
in little tube with a brush form. You just need to give them the paint
code from the sticker.
