Re: Oil spraying everywhere!!!!

Umm...   your low oil pressure light comes on *and* you can smell oil, and you continue to drive the car for another 4 miles??  You are damn lucky your car even runs!!!

I'm guessing that you revved the car too high while the oil was still cold and thick, so the extremely high oil pressure blew the rubber filter gasket out of it's slot.  Put a new filter on it, fill it back up with oil (it is completely empty at this point I'm sure), and pray to the VW gods that you haven't caused serious damage.  I'm guessing you will see an increase in oil usage, if not develop a rod knock soon

I Jumped in my 87 16v rocc this moring heading to work. Half way there the oil light came on. I could smell oil!  It beeped the next 4 miles to work. When I got there it was just in time.  I looked around and there is no oil on the block really. It seems to be covering my oil pan and possibly my oil filter.  Someone said I may have blown a seal on my oil filter which happens. (or cracked a seem in my oil filter)

Has anyone had this happen to them?

 Any other suggestions?

I am going to replace the filter tomorrow and start there.

Thanks
David
