RE: {non-roc} strange VW sighting

It was probably A type III Ghia as others have stated, Nick-named razor
edge.

The Type-III ghia would not be equivalent to a Jetta, it would be more
equivalent to a Corrado. And here is my rational for this. Each VW model
had a sport version the Jetta body style did not appear until the type-3
Notchback came along.

Type-1 Sedan (Bug) Sporty model (Ghia)
Type-2 Bus, Kombi, Breadloaf..... No sporty model here unless you count
peoples conversions to 911 engines.
Type-3 Fastback, the notchback (Jetta style body) Sporty Model (Ghia)
Type-4 411 and 412 Sporty model VW-Porsche 914-4/6 by far the only true
sports car of the bunch.
Rabbit - Scirroco boy that was obvious but back to more of a GT type car
BTW, the 924 was going to be in this spot once also.
Golf - Corrado - sportier, but still in the GT format.
Golf III - nothing it was a sad day.
Golf IV - keeps getting sadder.

Just my take on the VW sport world.

That WAS a Ghia but it was a Type 3 Ghia notch back. The Karmann Ghia we
all know and love it a type 1 Ghia. The Type 3 is rare, very.

Good eye,

(You might consider it the direct progenitor of the later jetta body
style.)
