I can not stress enough the suggestion to rewire the radio's power
leads. Partly out of it's the right way to go, partly out of my own preferences:

1. You want the power for the Radio to go from the Battery, through an
inline fuse (in the engine bay, close to the battery), to the 12v input
on the deck. Avoid running the radio off of the existing loom to keep
things load balanced and cool(er).

2. Personally I dislike having to insert the key or run the Acc. setting
to get the radio to run. I like to leave the radio running sometimes for
passengers even though I leave the cockpit for a time, or when it's
parked- you don't want to leave the keys in it and have to remain too
hawk eyed, etc.

3. You never can tell just how incompetent (or lazy) the previous owner
was (no offense anybody). You should look to redoing things like
accessory lighting and sound equipment so things don't fry right in the
middle of no-where, at night, in the rain.

Shrink tube, dielectric grease (O2 barrier), med. to heavy gauge wiring,
design your own & draw it on paper, plan in overkill- it's fun!
