Re: VDO gauge question.



On startup, my main concern is pressure.  Too high a rev when you're
still in the 80psi range and who knows what you blow out.  The oil temp
will tell you this too but the age on the gauges should begin to be a
concern. As far as temp, I prefer to keep a closer eye on the water.  The
little needle in the cluster isn't terribly accurate.  No two Scirocco's
have run in the same range, that I've seen.  (ie same mixture, same
conditions)

Not to mention, at this point I have a sense about the car, as I'm sure
most of you lifers do.  Through normal driving, the car will let you
know: when something's wrong or when it's time to hit it.  Besides,
you're in California Kevin...what kind of  "cold startup's" can you have?
 I'll bet come February you'll still have a fabulous tan!
