Theres some pics of my current setup at:

I use a dirt bike throttle mounted on a shaft that I push in for the brakes
with my left hand, and steer with my right hand. It's fairly simple to
operate and reliable, I use this setup for autocrossing.

I was also thinking about doing this.  The paddle shifter on the wheel is an
option on the Audi A4 with the tiptronic.  Only problem is the Audi doesn't
use the transverse mounted engine.  Although I've heard rumors that VW is
putting a tiptronic in the New Beetle.

No offence taken.  I'm always open to any ideas on to make driving more
enjoyable.  If there is a good way to use hand controls with a manual
transmission, I'm sure I'm not the only one that would be interested.
