RE: Engine and tranny in my '81

I perfer the FF to the short ratio transaxle in my GTi. At 65 mph in 5th
gear I am only doing 2200 RPM, where as the short ratio is running 3500
RPM...

I ddrive the rocco, then get into the GTi and have this terrible urge to
shift in to a highter gear...

The only way to know for sure is to look at the engine code.

These trannies are both end of the spectrum for gearing. The FF will give
you great fuel economy but lack low end acceleration.

The 4K is a blast to drive but 4000 RPM's at 80mph sucks.
