OK... here's the stupid part of the thread...

What kind of transmission do I have on my stock '87 16v Scirocco?

After taking calls from idiots all night long who want to know why they
can't connect to the internet when they are on the phone,  I feel pretty
damn stoopid to have to ask about my transmission.

There is a gear/speed calculator on Scirocco.org.  Look for the link at the
bottom of the main page.  After guessing for two years, I finally bought a
brand new speedo.  The gear calculator was 100% accurate for the speeds I
checked.
