205/60R13's are the ticket. I had these on a set of early aluminum wheels
(13X5.5) and you really cant go wider. The sidewalls did recess into the
rim a little but compared to the stock 175/70 tires that I had on the car
before, the 205/60's were a huge improvement. 


Also- (*big* also) what's a popular size for say a Miata--

if they're takeoffs then get what you can find. Try to get the shortest
tire you can get. Im not sure what size tire the Miata uses but I feel
like they're 14" wheels.

215/50 is too wide for a 13X5.5 wheel. the 205/60's wi;; work fine.
