Extra interesting junk yard find.

Seeing as how I didn't work yesterday, and the house was being shown to
prospective sellers, I spent the afternoon in the local junkyard. No
'roccos, but a decent array of other VW's. I got the cool door-open
relay thats in newer VWs (you know, the really annoying 3 tone one), and
some gauges out of a 4000, and while I was in the area, I just decided
to look for cool stuff. And boy did I find something cool!! There was
a green mid-late 90's Golf 4 door with a Thule roof rack on top, so I
thought I'd take a gander inside. Nothing to exceptional, except the
instrument cluster. I saw really big numbers on the speedo (260 max, to
be exact), and I had to say to myself 'Huh!' and do a double take. The
speedo is in km/h!! No mp/h at all, it's all kp/h. The odo has 202,760
km on it. Is this normal? It looks completely stock, but how could a
metric cluster end up in a US-spec (I assume) Golf? It has MFA, but I
didn't get the goodies, I didn't have time to track them down. I did
pull the cluster, though, just for shits and giggles. Maybe someday
I'll get the gumption and get all the proper sensors and stuff and put
the thing in my car.
Thought ya all should know!
