Are you sure? Hmmmm.... I've had one of these on at least 5 different A1
VW's and have never had this problem.
I would assume that if the chassis is straight, and unbent it should fit
correctly. When you tighten down the nuts, the stress should be transfered
to the chassis sheetmetal, and the strut bearing housing through the studs.
If you slot the mounting holes you are giving the bar the oportunity to
slide around (if the nuts aren't REAL tight). Maybe I'm all wet on this
matter (well at least my socks still are from washing my Scirocco) but this
is how I understand it.
