[non] passat computer question & powder coating

  to take care of the latter part first, i found a couple companies in
columbus, oh that do powder-coating. i'm having them do the trim rings
around my headlights for about $20. just though i'd pass that along.
  as for the question that is more pressing to me, i've got a lead on a
'92 passat glx that has a bad computer. would a computer from any other
passat work? specifically, i know there are two passat gl's at the local
yard but am unsure of the year. please, any help with this topic would
be greatly appreciated as i want to have something to drive around in
winter so i can store my scirocco. thanx.
