it's the Bosch system used on the 2.0 16v. The fuel is system is like
CIS-E, it has a air-flow plate and a computer controlled pressure
regulator that adjusts the mixture. Both the fuel and the ignition are
controlled by a single unit. It's a very good system, it re-learns as
you drive and it can adapt to most changes, like small vacuum leaks,
cheap gas, etc.. The control program is stored on a chip, so it can be
reprogrammed for more power. It also uses 2 knock sensors, and an
inductive sender on one of the spark plug leads, which regular CIS-E
doesn't have. It can also report fault codes on the check engine light
or by using a scan tool. The injectors are also different, i don't know
if they flow differently or not to the older ones though. The coil is
different too, it has a final stage built on it.

The best chip on the market for the motronic is the Garrett (
http://www.giacusa.com/ ), after driving my friend's rocco with a 16v
conversion with a Superchip, a Neuspeed chip, then the Garrett chip ...
I am a true believer! The chip rocks!
