My first two Sciroccos were 1975 models.

The chassis is the same. The reason 1975 and early
1976 Sciroccos are lighter is that they were
carburated. The fuel injection weighs more. The chrome
bumpers that came on 1975-1977 models are probably a
little lighter than the 1978-1981 style.

All these weight savings help offset the additional
weight caused by having two front wipers ;-)
