Yah yah... I know. :^) I was actually referring to the bottom end of the motor. My
point is that there's nothing about the 1.7l motor that makes it risky to bolt on
parts that were supposed "meant" for the 1.8l (but were not, anyway...).

I'd say to the original poster go ahead and bolt on all you want on that old 1.7 and
then make the transfer of parts to a bigger motor whenever you're ready. Just don't go
deep into the motor with stuff that'll be tossed out later on.
