RE: MFA problems

My '84 Wolfsburg also has the same problem, although it is only
intermittent (and mainly when it's cold out, below 2C or so) I have
determined that it is a loose connection at or around the speedo head,
becuase I can reach up behind the cluster and wiggle this connection while
driving and it starts working again. I will pull the cluster out this
weekend and take a closer look at the connection. The L/100KM reads 99.9
until the distance recorded starts to work, then I start getting L/100KM
numbers that look like MPG numbers until the travelled distance averages
the mileage down (or I reset the thing)... :)

If your speedo is still working, it could still be a bad connection inside the instrument cluster, from the sender in the speedo head to the MFA module.
