Snow/dirt/fun/skinny tires (LONG)

<x-flowed>I started to talk to 'DREAD-less Scott' the other day about this, but I'd
thought I'd ask a few of you other folk, too...

I think I'm gonna buy snow tires this year. I have a set of the old
Scirocco/quantum/whatever 13x5.5" alloys that are in nice shape and
sandblasted…

I went to Tire rack's page and came up with a few OK & cost effective
selections. The big question is, do I want SNOW tires or do I want RALLY
tires?

Here's my demands:
- I don't care if they're loud. If I cared, I'd drive an american car.
- I don't want them to wear out in 2 months.
- They can't be expensive
- I wanna be able to use these as my 'dirt' tires also for when Scott and I
take that trip down to the Pine Barrons, and when we finally assault the NJ
Brick Factory
- I wanna be able to reasonably stop in the snow and bad weather.
- I wanna new drug, one that wont make me sick, one that wont crash my car,
or make me feel three feet thick. (WHY do i remember that?)

So whaddaya think?
Here's the top contenders so far:

- Colway rally & rally Plus -- 155/13, 165/13 (27-43pounds sterling--how
much is that?)
- MaxSport HAKKA -- 135, 145, 155, 165, 175/13 (25pounds sterling)
- Michelin ARTIC ALPIN 155/80/13 ($46) 165/80/13 ($49)
- Firestone Winterfire 155/80/13 ($34)
- Dunlop Graspic HS-1 155/80/13 ($35) 165/80/13 ($40)
- Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 155/80/13 ($46)
- Bridgestone Blizzak WS-15original 155/80/13 ($43)

I see that some of the rally tires come in weird sizes… 175/65/13?

Since these are dual purpose- snow and dirt/gravel, do you think I should
run something a bit wider? Say a 175/70/13?

I'm interested to hear everyone's take on this…
