repost of new car info, and few questions

My aplogies if this is a double post, but I haven't seen it come across
yet...

I managed to get my hands on another clean well maintained scirocco this

weekend, after selling my silver/grey 86 a few months back. The new one
is a 85 titian red mettalic/tan striped 77k w/ pwr windows, mirrors &
locks, cruise control, and of course sunroof. It is an 8v, and has never

had any paint work or engine/trannny work.

BUT, the AC/Heater box is leaking, from the bottom, I separated the case

along the bottom, and the tongue groove was in place, with a small seal.

Is it possible to completely remove the case without coolant/refrigerant

work? Also, the 4th fan speed is not working, and supposedly the PO
replaced the fan switch with new, maybe the resister on the fan itself?
Does anyone know of a option code decoder? Other than that, it needs a
tune-up, and thorough cleaning. I hope to get some pics up soon, I'll
post those this week.
