Another noise question

Happy Saturday to all those who don't have to WORK today.

I've got a kinda high pitched squeak coming from the front
passenger side wheel on my '85 Scirocco.  The noise is
present while going in a straight line, louder when turning
left, sometimes quiets down turning right (but not always)
AND it gets a little louder when I hit the brakes.  I
started investigating this yesterday, and noticed two
things.  First, the short screw on the brake rotor is
missing, and one of the anti-rattle clips is gone.  I put a
new clip in on the off chance that it would help, to no
avail.

My (worst) thoughts are that this is a wheel bearing gone
bad.  Does anybody have any other ideas before I go ripping
the front end of my car apart tomorrow?
