Stewart,

i did the scirocco grille setup in my 84 Rabbit.  You just gotta keep 
trimming until it fits in.  It's hard to explain and I did it like 6 months
ago.  I will fit. 

On the rocco grille, I think that I just kept shaving it.  No real need to
cut away.  On the rabbit grille, I think that all I had left was the outer
grille.  If you still need help, lemme know.
