If I remember corectly, they currently hold the 1/4mile Watercooled VW ET 
record. I don't have a copy of HOT VWS here (they have the records printed 
in every issue), but thus is the VR6 Turbo Dragster.

On a related topic, I took a ride in an EIP 11.xx second Golf III the other 
day (dude lives around the corner from me- go figure!). It was a VR6 Turbo 
(w/nitrous?) with a tremendous intercooler on it. Believe it or not, it was 
sitting on the stock Eagle GA's (slicks were in the hatch) so when we rode 
in it, it went like this:

put it in 1st gear,
squeeze the throttle and let the clutch out,
begin moving at a mild pace while squeezing throttle to the floor.

Amoment later, SCREEEEEEEE! We were engulfed in tire smoke.

Put it in second. Same thing.

talk about turbo lag! As soon as the Turbo 'came in' the tires melted.

Fast.  Kinda...
