'81 rocco motor question?

i got an email about the engine sizesand i was consfused were the marking
is,  is the marking underneath the #4 spark plug or is it behind on the
firewall side next to the #4 cylinder? i found an H under the #4 plug it
said (H Germany)
does that mean that the motor is a 1.7?
and did the regular non S rocco come with a 1.7 or a 1.6 in '81?
