This *could* have been the small plastic lip spoiler that
was on most non-S Mk 1s.  They're notorious for getting
cracked, and most have been removed.  If the mounts go back
around onto the fenders as well, then it may very well be
an S.

Speaking of S seats - when Rob and I picked up the 16v
parts car yesterday we noticed a dirty but basically *mint*
'81 S interior.  I scored it for a very reasonable price. 
Woo hoo!!!  (No, I'm not currently interested in selling
it!)
