ND trip, You need to get a "TalkAbout" Radio

OK this is the deal on the "TalkAbout" radios.
First you need to shop to find the best deal.
I found several different versions of the radios
and the price was different at most locations for
the same model. Each store had different models.
The $50.00 versions are not good so do not get them.

FAQ What do I need?

You need to get a UHF-FM (FRS) radio
that is compatible with the Motorola TalkAbout.
You will want the 38 privacy code version so
you can talk with out static and interruptions.
You do not need the versions with the displays.

FAQ Do all the radios work about the same?

Yes if you get the 38 privacy code version.

FAQ Do I get more if I spend more?

You only get some minor features that you will not need.
The more expensive versions are a little easier to program
but you will not need to do that much programming.
I like the VOX feature for hands free talking.
They make a smaller one (SLK) that costs around $130.00.

FAQ Where do I look?

The best deal I could find was at Best Buy.
For $69.00 you can get a 14 channel radio with
38 privacy codes and VOX (model Yellow). This is not the one with the
display. I found the older version of this radio at Cost CO for the same
price but that
version did not have the VOX.
Staples had a good deal on the entry version with the display at $89.00
The same radio at Best Buy was $99.00. Office Depot had high prices
so do not go there. There prices were as much as $40.00 more for the same
radio. Fry’s was too confusing and the prices were a little higher than
Best Buy or Staples. The stores do not stock too many of the radios so
go and get them now!! I got a inline mic for $14.00 so I can use the VOX.
Good luck

Doug
