Tech- single wiper install

I bought a single wiper kit today and was wondering how to put it on.  The
wiper assembly came of a 80 scirocco.  I know how to put it on its just that
the bracket that the motors attaches to has two bolt holes on the drivers side
and only the bottom bolt lines up the top isnt against anything.  Also do i
have to repostion the motor?
