motor/engine mount & brake pads

Cool, I'm tackling my passenger side one next week, it was about 40,000
miles ago a mechanic told me it was dead!

How long do they normally last?

Anyone running ATE power discs with Mintex 'redbox' pads? I've got the pads
on my 96 Jetta with OEM rotors and really never noticed any difference
(except for less dust). Just wanted to know what this combo was like before
changing my Cabriolet.
