new short shift-still wont go into 1st

hi all, put a shift kit in my car today. I cant believe how easy it was! It even took all the sloppy play out of the gearshift. The only problem is that it is still very hard to shift into 1st gear. I replaced all the bushings that came with the kit, but i suppose that there are more. Anyone have an idea how to make it work the right way?
