Re: hot days in the valley/starting problems



I had the same problem with my '81.  What I did was to wire in a 
relay so that battery voltage went to the solenoid instead of the 8 or 
so that comes out of the ign. switch.  What happens is the 
solenoid wire that comes from ign. switch runs right by the engine, 
get's hot and the resitance increases enough that the 8 or so volts 
coming from the switch is reduced so low that the solenoid won't 
engage.  Once I wired in the relay, I haven't had a problem since.  If 
you want info on the wiring, let me know.
